Shikha was born in the USA, before moving at just three months old to the place she calls home, and holds close to her heart, Fiji. Shikha grew up in Fiji surrounded by immediate family, grandparents and cousins. She recalls fashion always being a huge part of her life, showing an interest in sewing from a young age as she watched and helped her grandmother create beautiful custom outfits. Fashion for Shikha is not just a passion, but a key part of her life that allowed her to create an incredible bond with her grandmother.
Her family made the move to Brisbane where she started at a new primary school. From childhood, Shikha recalls her mum having a hard time shopping for her body shape. She was taller than average for her age and slim, and with a larger chest size than most girls her age, which meant finding clothes to suit her body type was always a challenge. Throughout her teenage years this became even more difficult, and Shikha found herself stopping activities that she loved, like athletics, as she could not find supportive clothing that made her feel confident in her body.
Shikha says that she still has to talk herself into trying on clothes, often feeling like they just don't fit quite right, or make her feel good. This feeling sparked something in Shikha, inspiring her to start her own brand. She wanted to not only (finally!) find clothes that made her feel amazing, but also give the same opportunity to other women.
In her spare time, Shikha loves to travel with her fiancé, family and friends, and to be inspired by the places she goes, particularly beautiful tropical locations, like her home in Fiji. She is launching her first collection soon, inspired by Fijian beaches, her perfect summer holiday, and her desire to make beautiful clothing for full figured, fashion-savvy women that will make them feel confident in their bodies.
